Vanidades’ Icons of Style Event

Vanidades, the first and most widely read Spanish-Language Women’s lifestyle magazine in the United States and Latin America, holds a very dear place in my heart. Some of my fondest childhood memories include sitting with my mother as she flipped through the glossy pages and told me about the featured Vanidades’ women. The Vanidades woman was, and still is, one who is strong, beautiful and proud of her Latina heritage.  These women inspired me to fulfill my goals and work hard in all of my future endeavors.

My excitement peaked when I was  invited to attend the Vandidades Icons of Style event at the Mandarin Oriental.  While the event celebrated top fashion and accessories icons with cocktails, my favorite part was planning what to wear for the event and brushing shoulders with those whom I admire for their work in the Latin community and whom continue to inspire women and young girls today.

So what did these powerful and sexy Latina women wear to the event?

They embraced simplicity and bold color in their attire or makeup choices.

Caroline Herrara and her daughter Caroline Herrara Jr. show the gravity the slightest touch of color has.

FOOTBALL SEASON for the Fashionista!

Here is my go to NFL game plan inspired by my favorite football fashionistas Gisele Bündchen and Eva Longoria: Wear…

1. Football jersey or t-shirt with your team logo. The women’s jerseys and tees by Nike are fabulous!
2. Skinny jeans in either leather or athletic inspired stripe jean

3. Chunky high top sneakers in fun colors or a great boots

4. Über cool leather jacket or a varsity jacket

5. A skull cap. I prefer the retro knit turban

6. Legwarmers. Yes, very 1980s, but so are shoulder pads!

7. Pashmina scarf

8. Great bag

9. Sunglasses

10. Remember, one or two pieces with your team logo is enough. But, always show your support by wearing the team colors!

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 What I saw & What I Wore.

Twice a year New York City comes alive with the best fashion has to offer by hosting Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. The show takes place at Lincoln Center and this year it runs from September 6th to the 13th.

This Spring 2013 season, I was lucky enough to get a ticket to MBFW!. My goal was to get to see as many of our talented Latino designers as possible.

I’m so excited to say that I saw beautiful collections from designers Cesar Galindo, Custo Barcelona, Carmen Marc Volvo, Carlos Miele and Angel Sanchez! Goal accomplished!

These are just a few of the many talented Latino designers that were featured. They each have a unique point of view and style for us to choose from.

I also had the honor of interviewing Custo Delmau of Custo Barcelona, Carmen Marc Volvo and Cesar Galindo.

They shared with me what were inspirations behind their collections and how their Latin heritage influences their designs.

This is what I saw and what I wore at MBFW!
